Blog: My picks for WWDC10

Over on my Mac forum I’ve posted a list of items I think Apple may announce tomorrow at the WWDC 10 Keynote.

My top picks:

  • New iPhone – I’m almost positive Apple will announce a new iPhone tomorrow, probably calling it iPhone 4, iPhone HD or just iPhone.
  • iPhone OS 4.0 – Apple will probably preview more of iPhone OS 4.0 and give a sold release date (probably within a few weeks or a month, my best guess is sometime just before the new iPhone is available).
  • iPad OS 4.0 – Apple has already said that iPad OS 4.0 will not be available until after summer, but I’m betting developers will get a SDK.
  • Mac OS X 10.7 – While I think they’ll talk about it there will probably be a developer preview and a name (at best).

Wild cards:

  • Apple TV – A refresh of the Apple TV, I’m thinking more of an Xbox/PS3 as far as games/Apps and an overhaul of the existing functions. Also Apple’s Game Center in iPhone OS 4.0 ties into this idea nicely.
  • iWork/iLife 10 – Both iWork and iLife are still on the 09 versions, usually they are updated early in the year but it’s never too late to push out a small update and charge people money for a feature or two they’ll never use.

O'Reilly Best iPhone Apps

Swap It, my iPhone App for swapping pasteboards (clipboards) using Bluetooth has been featured on O’Reilly’s Best iPhone Apps site and named Best App for Beaming Text and Photos.

It is an honor to see Swap It rated as a Top Pick by a well known site and media outlet such as O’Reilly.

Blog: Swap It is in the App Store

Like I previously mentioned, Swap It was approved by Apple earlier and it just went live in the App Store a few minutes ago. Be sure to check it out in the App Store http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=333177120&mt=8. It costs 99-cents and I hope you’ll check it out, and should you purchase it that you’ll enjoy it.

For the last several months I’ve been working on my next iPhone app for iPhone and iPod touch, Swap It. Swap It is an App that lets you swap or share your iPhone’s pasteboard (clipboard) with another user of Swap It.

Swap It is scheduled for release on October 12, 2009 (tomorrow). Look for it in the iTunes App Store.

Blog: My iPhone App has been featured on TUAW

TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog) featured my iPhone and iPod touch application Calcutipr in their recent series of posts for WWDC Demos. While I was in San Francisco for Apple’s 2009 WWDC I went by and gave a demo for a blogger from TUAW, who was asking developers to come by and give demonstrations of their apps. I took advantage of this opportunity to get the word out about my app.

I can’t claim TUAW’s post as a review of Calcutipr, it more or less just mentioned it while sending a shout out to all tip calculators in the App Store. My app shared the post with another tip app, Gratuitous. You can read TUAW’s post on tip calculators here.

It seems like most comments on blogs or in App Store reviews I read of tip calculators almost always get the “I don’t need one” response. While I cannot say these comments/reviews are constructive, they have nothing to do with individual applications, I do understand where these commentators are coming from, I simply offer my app as an option. I must admit I do not always use my own app, sometimes it can be easier to do math in your head, sometimes its not.

Blog: My first (public) App is in the iTunes App Store

My first public iPhone/iPod touch application is now available in the iTunes App Store. My first app, “Calcutipr” is a simple and free Tip Calculator for the iPhone platform. It is the first application that I have polished enough to be ready for distribution.

I haven’t been working on it long, but after rewriting it a few times to mess with different ways of making it work I’ve gotten it to the point it is at now. I plan on updating it and adding new features to it as I come up with ideas for implementing new features.

Give it a try, its Free and you’ve got nothing to loose! iTunes Link.

Blog: My first iPhone app is almost finished…

I’ve almost finished my first iPhone application. I’m working on testing it for bugs, adding a few extras and in the process of submitting it to Apple. Within the next week it should be on the App Store providing all goes well.
