Robert Hodgen’s personal day-to-day blog.

Welcome to my personal blog. Both blog posts and my tweets will show up on my blog, just a little something to keep you up to date. Anyhow, checkout my RSS feed and my portfolio.
Blog: The new OS X 411 is live

Over the last few weeks I have been debating whether or not to change OS X 411 from a blog running Wordpress to a forum running Invision Power Board. My friend Jason Hilton recommended I install a forum and highly recommended IPBoard as he was pleased with it on his last project: Mustang411.com.

So yesterday I purchased IPBoard plus the blog and I’ve been working on transferring some of the most popular blog posts over to the forum. The new site incorporates a new blog, from now on I’m going to try to pick the best threads from the forum for use on the official OS X 411 blog. In addition to the official blog, users are able to create their own blogs on the website, enabling them to blog about projects or whatever.

I also setup a twitter account, @osx411 where I’ll probably tweet for some of the blog posts.

Blog: New Blog Design

A while ago I made a portfolio that I put up on roberthodgen.com, I liked the design a lot, seeing as how its clean, so I wanted to adapt that to a Wordpress them for my blog. And that’s exactly what I spent some time on yesterday and today.

I wanted to have a common theme between the two website (my portfolio and this blog) and I think I’ve achieved that with this new Wordpress theme.

Blog: Removed the “Contact” page from my Blog

I just removed the “Contact” page from my blog, it was holding duplicate information as it and my About page both had contact information.

Blog: The last month or two…

If you follow my Mac blog, OS X 411, you might have noticed I haven’t posted much in the last few months, in fact I skipped April all together. I usually try to post at least once per month just to keep the blog current and readers informed. It isn’t that I’ve ran out of stuff to write about, I’ve actually got a good deal of material (like an Intel X25-M SSD in a Mac Pro). Finding time to write about this stuff is another thing.

Now that I’m out of my college classes for the summer I should be able to find more time to write for all my blogs and work on more projects.

Blog: I’m going to WWDC 2009!

WWDC 2009 Badge

It’s official, I’m going to WWDC 2009. Several days ago I was awarded the Student Scholarship for WWDC 2009, just today I booked my hotel so there’s not turning back now… WWDC here I come.

Like last year, I plan to live blog the keynote providing I get good enough seats (here’s hoping for 10th row again like last year!) for my Mac blog OS X 411.

Most of all I’ve got to say I’m looking forward to attending the sessions and labs Apple is doing, last year I was looking to learn about the iPhone, this year I’m hoping to do more with the iPhone (and of course Mac). I’ve also got to say I’m glad to have the ability to watch WWDC 2008’s sessions on iTunes for free via last year’s student scholarship (which rocks) and this year’s.

Blog: The transition has started, a new blog is born.

I have started transferring more over to Robert.Hodgen.me in the past days. The main motivation behind this is my iPhone and iPod touch application distribution and support section of the new site, Apps.Hodgen.me which has gotten its first application added, Calcutipr.
