No wifi + no sprint connection card signal = no Internet
Another rainy day and I’ve got to walk to class, at least this time I managed to stay somewhat dry.
I just finished revamping OS X 411, follow it on Twitter @osx411 or http://osx411.com
Over the last few weeks I have been debating whether or not to change OS X 411 from a blog running WordPress to a forum running Invision Power Board. My friend Jason Hilton recommended I install a forum and highly recommended IPBoard as he was pleased with it on his last project: Mustang411.com.
So yesterday I purchased IPBoard plus the blog and I’ve been working on transferring some of the most popular blog posts over to the forum. The new site incorporates a new blog, from now on I’m going to try to pick the best threads from the forum for use on the official OS X 411 blog. In addition to the official blog, users are able to create their own blogs on the website, enabling them to blog about projects or whatever.
I also setup a twitter account, @osx411 where I’ll probably tweet for some of the blog posts.
Over the weekend I spent some time moving all (my live websites) over to my mac mini running Mac OS X Server. I’m replacing a GoDaddy VPS not because I wasn’t happy with it but just for a change a more control. The mini is located at home and this is a proof of concept for me. I’m using DynDNS.com to update the DNS records every time my dynamic IP address changes.
So far these are the domains I’m hosting at home:
- roberthodgen.com
- hodgen.me (all subdomains like robert.hodgen.me, apps.hodgen.me, etc.)
- osx411.com
- swapitapp.com
If I create any new websites I’ll probably add them to the mac mini.
A while ago I made a portfolio that I put up on roberthodgen.com, I liked the design a lot, seeing as how its clean, so I wanted to adapt that to a WordPress them for my blog. And that’s exactly what I spent some time on yesterday and today.
I wanted to have a common theme between the two website (my portfolio and this blog) and I think I’ve achieved that with this new WordPress theme.
Got myself a replacement iPhone today (power button fell off on the old one)
